Episode One:
Gabriel Goldberg and I interviewed Dr. Jeffrey Herf, a Distinguished University Professor Emeritus at the University of Maryland and a leading historian of twentieth-century Germany. His work traces how propaganda, political mythmaking, and antisemitism shape modern extremism. His recent books — Israel’s Moment: International Support for and Opposition to Establishing the Jewish State, 1945–1949 (2022) and Three Faces of Antisemitism: Right, Left, and Islamist (2024) — examine how historical ideologies continue to structure contemporary political conflicts. My podcast episode with Herf connected this archival scholarship to today’s information wars, exploring how emotionally charged narratives and grievance politics normalize radicalism in the digital age.
